As my first public art piece, GloWave marks a key transition in my work. In GloWave I connected shapes in a netlike pattern, looping flat plastic back onto itself to create a larger form. Though the undulating forms reference the water that is so scarce in this region, the abstracted form of this sculpture allows for an open-ended encounter. The ambiguity invites people to discover what it means to them. One person might crawl through the shape. One might envision it as a seat. My facility with changes in scale has become a key aspect of my practice. I often move from one scale to another throughout my process, building scale models of larger works throughout the design phase.
