IAH Administration Building, Houston, TX

Pentaplexity (Proposal) is a suspended sculpture that greets visitors as they approach the IAH Administration Building. A suspended cloud of color, sprinkled with the shapes of stars, Pentaplexity enchants viewers with mesmerizing shapes that play with ocular perception. Seen from afar, the arc of the suspended sculpture traces the trajectory of a plane taking off, a fitting reference for an airport installation. Similar to the way light is refracted by water particles in the sky that create rainbows, the colors of the sculpture are oriented to show different hues depending on which angle viewers see the work. The form vacillates between 2d and 3d by using the Penrose pattern. This infinite titling system is a fitting analogy for the immensity and complexity of the universe which generates endless wonder for viewers.
